Adonis
and Christine Avraamides started The Bread Basket
in 1982 when they realised there was a demand
for good food and personalised service. The Bread
Basket was an instant success, with people flocking
to the store from as far afield as Pretoria.
Starting out from
a small store and together with the help of the
family, the Group has grown from strength to strength
constantly improving the image and most importantly
maintaining the good quality and excellent personal
service.
There are currently
nine stores namely Village Walk (the original),
Eastgate, Cresta Mall, Sandton City, Lonehill,
Greenstone and The Glen in Johannesburg and then
Parkview in Pretoria. These nine family owned
and operated stores ensure that the high standard
of quality food and service is maintained earning,
the Bread Basket numerous awards over the past
few years. All products are made on the premises
and baked daily giving the store and surrounding
areas that “freshly
baked bread aroma”.
The Bread Basket
Group consists of a dynamic, talented and stimulated
team who aspires to develop their entrepreneurial
skills under the immensely successful “Bread
Basket” banner.
The next stage is
the organic growth of the Group to achieve a carefully
chosen geographic spread of Stores within a controlled
environment to develop the Group’s market
share with greater penetration while maintaining
its superb reputation. A successful management
system has been devised based on a philosophy
of “excellent quality and good, personal
service”, a base that guarantees support
and reliability with a proven track record of
success.
Future stores under
the “Bread Basket umbrella” will comfortably
be able to retain and improve market share in
the face of growing competition from competitors
and institutions while maintaining their vital
independence and excellent standards.
